Some Interesting Spam Statistics
A new report from the people at Cisco Systems indicates that over 9 billion spam email messages are sent from Canadian-based computers each day. That is approximately five percent of spam sent daily world-wide. Cisco had lots of interesting numbers to share in their report, such as that ninety percent of all email messages sent are is considered spam. That’s an incredible number, putting the average number of spam emails sent worldwide each day at twohundred billion!
As far as a national breakdown, the highest spam sending computers were from Russia , followed by Turkey, the US and then Canada. While spam was most often sent from computers in these countries, that does not mean the culprits reside in them. Usually spam is sent from 3rd-party computers that have been compromised by hackers.
