The competition for services that provide free TV and movies online is getting tougher.

Sling Media makes the Slingbox remote TV-viewing device and has recently launched its revamped Sling.com video site. The site provides popular TV shows including SNL and ‘The Office’ as well as films from Sony, Warner Bros, and MGM and will compete with YouTube, Joost, and Hulu.

Sling partnered with Hulu which allows it to offer videos from the major networks such as Fox and NBC, as well as CBS, PBS, BBC America and a number of web video sites including College Humor and Break.com. The free content is only available to US web users at this time and is supported by ads that run before and during the videos.

Sling will allow Slingbox owners to connect their devices to the website and stream any content saved on it. The device allows the streaming of subscription TV services to a computer screen.
