Even with Microsoft’s major cost trimming of Xbox 360 prices, and an improved outlook for Sony’s PlayStation 3, it looks as though Nintendo’s white-hot selling Wii is steering toward a 3rd sequential Christmastime victory in the video-game console war.

Notable numbers: Japanese video-game colossus Nintendo sold over two million units of its Wii console in the United States during November, which easily breaks the previous record of monthly console sales outside of December.

And, a bit of a surprise (to me at least), is that the Nintendo DS is trailing close behind the Wii in terms of consumer popularity. Nintendo is happy to highlight the success of its Nintendo DS hand-held device, which sold approximately 1.5 million units across the U.S. in November – a handheld record for non-December sales.

It looks like their will be a lot of happy kids (and adults) finding Nintendo products underneath their Christmas tree this year!
