While Google had previously released an app allowing for voice to power the iPhone a few months ago, critics were not happy with its performance, and, more specifically lack of features. The Google application mostly limited commands to those that were search-related, and with the iPhone capable of so much more, it was only a matter of time until somebody came out with a much more inclusive application.

To the rescue comes a new app from Vlingo, which is being hyped all around the blogosphere. Their new app, just announced today, uses the power of voice recognition technology to allow iPhone users the hands-free ability to make calls, update social network sites Twitter and Facebook, look up maps, and yes, of course, search. All in all, it’s a much more thorough and capable voice-recognition app than what was previously available.
