New Panda Bears Cause Website Crash
A rush of panda bear passion is sweeping over Taiwan and has caused the Taipei zoo website to crash. The zoo is the new home of 2 giant pandas that arrived there this week and is a gift from China. The zoo’s website crashed 1 day following the pandas’ arrival, as tens of thousands of adoring fans tried viewing the animals online.The number of clicks on the panda website Spiked from 17,000 to 37,000, causing the site to crash.
The website was running again by Friday, with updates on the zoo’s newest celebrities, Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan, in their new customized enclosure. This move by China, symbolizes the improving relations between the political rivals under a new China-friendly government. The pandas have taken up residence in a new $9.08 million custom-constructed home where they are anticipated to draw in large spectators when they officially go on display during the lunar new year at the end of January.
