In a world where people try to send, read and compose emails and text messages while operating a motor vehicle, a very welcome device is being introduced to the market. One that may just have you putting the Blackberry down, and your hands at ten and two.

Directly from Canada hails the iLane, which is a new gadget that will read its user’s emails to them as they drive, and also allow for their hands-free response.

The iLane communicates with the user’s smart-phone and responds to voice commands in order to conduct a variety of functions. Currently the device is only able to be used with the BlackBerry 800 series, however iLane is looking to expand its service to include additional smart-phones.

Here is a quote from the company’s recent press release,

“(The iLane) reads e-mails to the user out loud, on command, and it allows for access and control of other smart-phone applications by voice command, including managing phone calls, SMS messages and calendars.”

The device retails for six-hundred US, plus an eight dollar monthly fee to keep the necessary subscription active.

Personally, I know a few dangerous BlackBerry-addicted drivers who will hopefully find this in their stocking come Christmas morning!
