Mac OS X Goes Through Major Update
Apple is offering a free download of the Mac OS X 10.5.6 update including major fixes which improve the compatibility,stability and security of its Mac computers. The update is for Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 to 10.5.5 users. This update has more than 30 fixes, therefore Apple had alerted Mac users to be aware if they have changed the operating system or transferred Apple applications to another location besides the default Applications folder. The newly released system can be downloaded as an automatic update or in a standalone installer.
Mac OS X 10.5.6 also bringes alterations to Apple’s MobileMe, Mail, iChat, AirPort, iCal and Safari applications. Apple stated that the update will improve application synchronization as well as fixes a bug where users may not have been able to detect their printers. The update improves the dependability of AirPort network connections and fixes certain bugs with the iChat application. Graphics bugs are also fixed, including performance of games.
Apple also stated that MobileMe now synchronizes contacts, bookmarks and calendars within a minute of a modification being made. A comprehensive list of the bugs that the update is meant to address can be found on the Apple.com website.
