Longer Battery Life May Be Coming
While the iPhone 3G is a distinguished wireless phone, a key issue with the gadget has always been its limited battery life. This is also true for many other advanced mobile devices, such as most BlackBerry models. The truth is, they could all benefit from a longer lasting battery charge. Thankfully, the solution may be just on the horizon, thanks to a student at Carleton University.
A PHD student, Mr. Atif Shamim, altered a number of wireless phones, removing the wires that connect the electric circuits to the antenna. It turns out, the connection can work without the wires. Even more amazing, is that doing so lead the phone requiring approximately twelve times less power. And what does that result in? Longer battery life.
Whether this technology will be explored very much further, and ultimately developed on a large production scale is unknown at this time, but it’s clear that many wireless companies will have an interest in the new technology.
