It’s Not All Roses For Apple
Research from the NPD Group indicates that November Mac sales fell a percentage point from November of last year. This is surprise, considering overall PC sales were up two percentage points from the same point last year. The decline is largely due to the under performance of Mac’s desktop offerings, for which sales are down a whopping thirty five percent from a year prior. The good news for Mac, is that their line of laptops is still outperforming those of PC manufacturers.
Many are now guessing that this will lead to a steep price drop for Apple desktop computers, in order to compete with their much cheaper PC counterparts. Whether we will see products from Apple in the 500 dollar range that many PCs play in, is of course unknown at this time.
Also, it’s suggested that Apple is going to be putting major resources into the new net-book market, which is expected to see substantial growth in the coming years. Of course, time will tell if that is a worthwhile venture, or not, but Apple has a good track record of predicting the next big product to invest in.
