Google is on the verge of introducing a new feature, to be known as SearchWiki. The service will enable users to edit their Google search results. Meaning, you’ll be able to move items up and down in their ranking, or even remove a result all together.

Of course, you need to be logged in so that Google can remember your preferences and apply them in future searches. Adding a bit of a social flair to the feature, users are also able to leave notes on the usefulness of search listings, and view notes left by fellow users.

At first, I wasn’t sure how many people would find use in the service. However, upon reading that approximately fourty percent of searches are performed at least a second time by the same user, it certainly seems like a needed tool.

In case you’re wondering, Google says that user rankings and comments will not effect the search ranking order for others. Not yet, at least.
