NASA scientists now have a little more hope toward the possibility of life on Mars, as they have discovered several large glaciers beneath the red planet’s surface. The newly discovered glaciers are approximately one mile thick and span a fourteen-hundred mile region.

The glaciers were discovered by The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter using radar to explore beneath the planet’s surface. This is the only time ice has been found on Mars away from its polar icecaps. They are thought to be leftover from Mars’ ice age, which scientists believe to have occurred millions of years ago.

The people at NASA are undoubtedly excited about the discovery, as the presence of water and ice gives hope to the idea that life may have at one time existed on Mars. Heck, perhaps it will even do so once again.
