Facebook has won $837 million against a Canadian businessman Adam Guerbuez and 25 other unnamed people.

The man’s company, Atlantis blue Capital from Montreal, had tricked users to disclose their passwords. This allowed the company to send spam emails to over 4 millionĀ  users, offering sex-related items and messages promoting cannabis usage.

Buerbuez and the others basically created fake Facebook pages where users entered their login details, which the spammers then stole and sent the spam emails to their Facebook friends.

The activities had violated the CAN-SPAM and additional computer fraud and privacy-related laws.

It isn’t likely that Facebook will see much of the $837 million, based on a $230 million suit involving MySpace.
