A novel internet service named Pastebud will soon give iPhone users the ability to copy and paste text from Safari into email messages, as well as between internet pages.

The initial iPhone launch is now eighteen months in the past, and since that time, a lot of users have sounded off on its lack of cut and paste capabilities. Then, this past July, users were once more let down as the iPhone 3G debuted and was also without cut and paste functionality.

Pastebud’s internet site is not yet available, but its creators have delivered a demo of their service by way of YouTube. Also, it appears as though Pastebud could ward off the pitfalls that early iPhone cut and paste developers experienced. The reason for this is that Pastebud is a web-based service, and so users will not need to download any special software onto their iPhones in order to use the service. This also means that Pastebud could circumvent Apple’s App Store entirely.

Now, Pastebud is not a perfect solution, as it acts exclusively with the Safari web browser and email. However, as those applications are the most probable to require cutting and pasting, it should not be a huge barrier for Pastebud to reach success.
