Child Buys Earth Mover Online
A mother from New Zealand decided to use the Internet to make bids on toys prior to going to bed. Subsequently, her young daughter bought an even bigger toy,a gigantic earth-moving vehicle for a “mere” $12,300.
The 3 year old, Pipi Quinland, won the Kobelco digger auction on the site TradeMe with just a few mouse moves and clicks. Sarah, Pipi’s mother, said she first noticed the transaction when she woke up and looked at her computer screen. She noticed an email from TradeMe that notified her of winning and another email from the seller congratulating her as well. At first she thought she accidentally bid on a toy digger but soon realized what happened. She was obviously shocked to find out the truth. The mother at once called the auction website as well as the seller to describe what had transpired. As a result, TradeMe returned the seller’s auction costs and the vehicle was relisted.
