Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m a little bit bummed about this news: it looks like my favorite little micro-blogging platform, Pownce, will be shutting its doors. The company was bought by Six Apart Media, who are keeping its talent but dismantling its service.

To be honest, I feared this might be coming for a few months now, as their competitor Twitter has gained more and more media coverage and mainstream acceptance. Pownce wasn’t really able to follow suit and was drowned out in favor of Twitter by more and more web-users.

Personally, I liked the functionallity and layout of Pownce, but am not deadset against using Twitter, so I suppose I will make the inevitable swtich over to them. For those interested, Pownce will continue to run until the fifteenth of this month.
