Are Days Numbered For Landline Phones?
Could the death of the land line be upon us? A new survey shows that traditional land line phones are on a heavy decline, especially among younger adults.
In fact, the number of households without a conventional land line phone is up to eighteen percent. As well, thirteen percent of those with land lines say that they receive almost all of their calls via their mobile. These numbers are showing a significant trend, because as recently as 2006, only seven percent of homes were without a land line phone.
Personally, I am not overly surprised by these statistics, as I myself primarily rely on my wireless phone for making and receiving calls. Also, with the current economic conditions, it may not be feasible for people to pay the cost associated with having both a land line phone service, and a wireless phone service. And I don’t know too many young people who like to be away from their mobile.
