Another Issue For BitTorrent
BitTorrent just can’t get a break these days, can they? It seems as though it’s becoming commonplace for Internet providers to take action against the high-bandwidth using site. In America, giant cable-company Comast was recently caught traffic shaping by slowing down the download speed of heavy BitTorrent users. And now, across the pond and into the UK, it appears the same thing is happening.
The British are, in most part, a lot more transparent about the traffic monitoring and throttling they engage in. In fact two major British internet providers - Carphone Warehouse, and British Telecom - openly use software to oversee which applications their users are running. However, while Virgin recently bought similar technology, they are denying that it will be used to target torrent sites. It seems rather obvious to the rest of us that it will be.
